Celebrating 90 Years of Penguin Books
Celebrating 90 Years of Penguin Books – 30th July 2025
We were delighted to be commissioned to create a Penguin book vending machine cake to celebrate 90 years of Penguin Books at St David’s Station in Exeter. It was here that Allen Lane, founder of Penguin Books, famously came up with the idea for Penguin when he was unable to find anything good to read for his journey. Penguin was built on the idea that brilliant books shouldn’t be a luxury, but something everyone can enjoy, anywhere.
The event featured Michael Morpurgo and Clare Morpurgo, daughter of Sir Allen Lane, who cut the cake together as part of the celebrations. The event was organised by Exeter City of Literature (UNESCO) to mark an incredible milestone for one of the world’s most iconic publishing houses.
It was a joy to create a piece that honoured Penguin’s extraordinary publishing legacy, and we’re proud to have been part of an event celebrating literature, creativity and cultural history here in Exeter.

Making a dragon for Deborah Meaden

A Dragon for International Women’s Day – 8th March 2023
We were honoured to be commissioned by the Dean of Exeter Cathedral to create a sugarcraft dragon model for Deborah Meaden, entrepreneur and Dragon on BBC’s Dragons’ Den, as part of an International Women’s Day celebration at Exeter Cathedral.
Alongside the centrepiece, we also created a selection of mini vegan cakes for guests to enjoy.
We were delighted to see Deborah Meaden shared the dragon on her Twitter and Instagram, which made the commission even more memorable for us!
It was a privilege to contribute to an event celebrating women’s achievements in such a historic setting, and we’re incredibly proud to have been trusted with this unique commission.

The 40kg Massey Ferguson
Celebrating 80 Years with a Massey Ferguson Replica
One of our favourite (and biggest) challenges was creating an edible replica of a Massey Ferguson tractor for our client, Roger’s, 80th birthday. Since he still owns his very first tractor, we matched the cake to its current state—weathered rust and all!
The finished project weighed 40kg and served over 200 guests. We were thrilled when Massey Ferguson shared the result on their official Facebook page, and it was a real pleasure to help Roger celebrate such a great milestone.
